  • 🏅 #1 on the Hot 10
  • 1st appearance and origin of Daredevil, Matt Murdock
  • 1st appearance of Foggy Nelson, a lawyer and ally of Murdock
  • 1st appearance of Karen Page, the love interest of Daredevil
  • Think back to the Hot 10 on June 4th, 2020 and remember these words
  • “My prediction for 2021 hot books…Daredevil #1 finally price corrects with the rest of the Silver Age”
  • Daredevil #1 has idled for far longer than expected but now here we are, not even outside of the first month of 2021 and Daredevil delivers a scorching hot sale in a Heritage Auction of $102,000 for a 9.6 graded copy
  • Yes, scorching hot! Surface of the sun hot and yes, just as the Hot 10 predicted seven months ago!
  • The previous all-time high for a 9.6 was $62,000 in 2010 but the entirety of the decade that followed posted sales between $24k - $38k which is an insane bargain for a book this old (1964) that shouldn’t even exist in a 9.6
  • This ultra-classic, blue-chip key issue has struggled to escape from a purgatory of undervalued potential for far too long but not anymore
  • And why?
  • Late 2020, Marvel got the film rights back from Netflix for Daredevil and from what we’re hearing, the studio wasted no time filming a scene with Charlie Cox (Daredevil actor) for the Spider-Man 3 movie
  • December 2020 provided a hint of Daredevil’s promise with a $33,000 sale in 9.4 which was $4,000 higher than any previous sale
  • But it’s still a far cry from a $40,000 increase from it’s all-time previous high and 3.5x more than any sale over the past decade
  • Expect this to be the first jaw-dropper of many more to follow as Daredevil continues its quest of correcting its value to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with other Silver Age icons
