Arana was created by writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Takeshi Miyazawa, debuting in 2005 as a new character in the Spider-Man universe.

Anya Corazon was a normal teenager until she was bitten by a mystical spider, granting her spider-like abilities. She struggled to balance her new powers with her everyday life.
