Stargirl was created by writer Geoff Johns, inspired by his late sister, Courtney, who passed away in a tragic accident. Johns wanted to create a character that embodied hope and positivity.

Courtney Whitmore discovers her stepfather's old superhero gear and takes on the mantle of Stargirl, becoming a member of the Justice Society of America and fighting alongside other heroes.
