This new series starts in the middle of the action well after the Cylons have already destroyed the colonies. As the Galactica passes near the widespread wreckage of a 60 year old battle between Caprica and Sagittarius, known as the Third Colonial Conflict, Apollo observes a fire on an old medivac ship that is part of the wreckage. Galactica receives a distress call from the medivac ship, claiming to be under attack by Cylons. Commander Adama sends Starbuck and a Marine squad to the ship. Once aboard, they discover the ship is under attack by older generation Cylons and immediately engage them in a firefight. As the medivac ship’s passengers begin to identify themselves , the Galactica crew discovers that those aboard the ship are Colonial citizens who had previously died. Commander Adama orders Starbuck and her squad to pull out suspecting that those on the medivac ship are, in fact, Cylons themselves. As Starbuck receives the order, she discovers among the ship’s passengers Zak Adama, Commander Adama’s dead son.
