Buck Rogers in the 25th Century #12

In a political move to portray himself a kinder, gentler Dictator, Draco declares an interplanetary olympiad.  All planets of the Draconian Empire, Free worlds (Earth and others), and undecided worlds are invited to send their champions.  In the spirit of galactic love and goodwill, Earth contructs the stadium and agrees to host the olympiad.  Nothing in the story talks about how the infrastructure needed for an olympics are a giant drain on tax dollars and go largely unused and fall into disrepair following the event.
