Rick Jones is tired of being in the negative zone and letting Captain Marvel do all the fighting.He goes to his appointment with his agent Mordecai Boggs and meets her singer partner, Rachel Dandridge. Together, they are to perform a tour in fourteen cities. Both of them are not too happy of being in a duo.On their trip to Denver, they come in the way of Nitro, a villain who is able to explode without suffering any damage from the explosion.Nitro is after a gas called Compound 13, which is lethal. Captain Marvel and Rick Jones manage to defeat him by teaming up. Captain Marvel falls unconscious because he breathed too much gas.
