In Peter David's one-issue off out of the 61 total (between volumes 3 and 4), writer Fabian Nicieza (who wrote the 6-issue Genis-featuring Captain Marvel vol. 2 'Miniseries' a few years before this) fills in some gaps in Genis' character history between volumes 2 and 3 by finally showing what became of some of the characters from vol. 2.
