Rick and jaka meet again in the office of Mrs. Thatcher. There Mrs. Thatcher explains how Jaka caused her miscarriage. Rick hits her and as a punishment, has his thumb broken; then he is taken home to his mother. Jaka is given over to the authorities. Cerebus finds Pud's tavvern burnt to the ground.Flashback: Jaka mistakenly thinks that Julius was mocking her and runs away and gets on a merchant ship headed for Iest.
