Synopsis

THE RETURN OF CLAYFACE Matt Hagen breaks jail and uses his powers as Clayface to impersonate wealthy men in order to gain information for future crimes, which brings him into renewed conflict with Batman and Robin. However, Clayface's powers are limited by time and in order to keep working, Hagen takes a sample of the mysterious pool and starts investigating the element with a scientist he kidnapped. Batman obsesses over Clayface and his investigation leads him to the criminal's secret hideout, where he learns of the chemical sample. Batman decides to incorporate the chemical sample into a freezing gun and with the weapon he is able to stop Clayface. Once Hagen is returned to prison, Batman informs Robin that he used all the chemical sample from the pool and since they don't know the source of this element, they can't use the freezing gun against Clayface if he ever escapes again. THE CRIME COLLEGE Crooks begin committing robberies using fantastic machines in Middletown, and J'onn J'onzz captures the criminals but fails to learn the identity of the mastermind behind it all. In reality, the thieves are "students" at Professor Proxon's Crime College, where, for tuition money, crooks learn how to operate Proxon's fantastic crime machines. The Manhunter invisibly eavesdrops on a couple of imprisoned "students", learns of the College, and enrolls there while disguised as Fred Framer, a criminal. Later, when the Manhunter confronts Proxon and his men, the villain trains a flame-throwing machine on him. But, since J'onzz has switched the machine's gas tanks for tanks containing phosphorescent material, he is not weakened and captures the entire gang.
