Synopsis

The story opens with Hal Jordan taking a plane higher than anyone has before - it is a test of will. But then everything goes wrong - he starts hearing his dead father talking to him. The plane spirals earthward out of control. It ends in a collision with a giant green lantern.Hal Jordan wakes up. He's lying face down in the dirt near a highway billboard that he just flew into head first, knocking himself cold. Hal catches a ride with a passing motorist into town where he visits his friend in the hospital.There he learns that he's wanted by the police. After some soul-searching he decides to turn himself in. He's booked on a DWI charge and thrown in jail. All his personal effects are confiscated - including his power ring!So when a dangerous enemy comes looking for him, he's a sitting duck...
