Johnny captures a man named Edgar Vargas, a man he recognizes as innocent. Vargas explains that he isn't afraid of death due to his faith, and Johnny kills him though is unsatisfied in doing so. Johnny goes on a date with Devi, a cashier at a local bookstore, and is torn between his infatuation and his need to satiate his deeper psychotic urges. Later in the issue, Johnny makes a late-night run to a convenience store for a "Cherry Brain Freezy" and after the store clerk tells him the machine shuts off at 2:00 a.m he proceeds to kill the man.
