Synopsis

1751: After the death of his father, David Ballfour discovers a letter revealing that he is the rightful heir to the estate of Shaws in the Scottish Lowlands. However, his greedy uncle Ebenezer attempts to have him killed to prevent David from claiming his inheritance. David narrowly escapes, and then Ebenezer has him kidnapped, Shanghaied aboard a ship bound for the Carolinas, where Captain Hoseason intends to sell David as a slave. David soon discovers that the crew is made of untrustworthy cutthroats. He however befriends Alan Breck Stewart, a Jacobite rebel and castaway, helping him when Hoseason intends to have Alan killed. Both manage to escape the boat and reach the treacherous Scottish Highlands, which they will cross facing betrayal, capture, and danger at every turn. As David and Alan journey across the rugged landscape, they form a bond forged through adversity and shared experiences. They encounter loyal allies and cunning adversaries, as they strive to evade capture and, in the process, reclaim David's rightful inheritance.
