Maverick and the Red Guardian escaped Ivan Pushkin's underground dungeon, hurrying to stop the racketer from shipping missiles, armed with anthrax bacteria, to a fortified A.I.M. compound. If the anthrax is released, billions will die, so Maverick and the Guardian stowed on board Pushkin's carrier, realizing the odds would be against them and preparing for the fight of their lives.
