P City Parade #1
Synopsis
P. City Parade is a one-shot graphic novel by Paul Pope that collects work he did over the course of several years. A graphic illustrator heavily inspired by design-conscious comic forebears like Alex Toth and European “bande designe” artists, Pope, in P. City Parade, attempts to integrate “kid comics” and Japanese manga approaches into his already-internationalist style. The result is a strange, but visually pleasing, adventure story featuring young Lollie and her friends on a surreal colony on Mars. Pope provides plenty of textual explanation of the situation and of his artistic intentions for each scene.
