The Slingers confront their mentor, the Black Marvel, as they realize that he's responsible for the fire engulfing the hotel. Hornet and Dusk set about getting people to safety, while Ricochet rescues his girlfriend from a mentally deteriorating Black Marvel, and Prodigy learns what it really means to be a superhero. At his home, Spider-Man examines the Slingers costumes that he once wore, and decides to let the issue rest.
