Synopsis

A collection of comics and stories, including -- "The Bund Saboteurs" , featuring the first appearance of the Star-Spangled Kid and Stripesy :  It's night and, hidden in darkening shadows, three skulking figures pursue their nefarious aim... the dynamiting of the Graham Steel Works!  Saboteurs, these are, who seek to spike the mighty efforts of America to rearm itself... but when these foes of democracy come face to face with the Star-Spangled Kid and his sidekick, Stripesy, sheer terror strikes at their craven hearts! -- "Dam the English Channel" , featuring the first appearance of Captain X :   Nazi scientists have developed a liquid called "viscid" which combines with water to instantly form a hard metal, and employ it to build a dam across the English Channel, enabling a mechanized invasion of England.  Only Buck Dare, a reporter for a London newspaper called "Tribute" and secretly Captain X of the RAF, can stop them, with the help of "Jenny", his advanced warplane made from a pale blue plastic alloy. -- "Ace-Deuce" , featuring the first appearance of the Tarantula :  When the mightiest city of the Earth falls prey to a systematized circle of crime, the police are baffled... but then there emerges Tarantula to weave a web of doom around this sinister society of destruction and of hate! -- "Dr. Weerd and the Metal Monster" , featuring the Star-Spangled Kid and Stripesy :  When sinister forces menace the security of the United States of America, two alert fighting patriots can always be counted on:  the Star-Spangled Kid and his powerful partner-pal, the muscular Stripesy!  Defenders of democracy, battlers against criminal intrigue, the world would be very astonished indeed to learn that they are in reality apparently-supercilious young Sylvester Pemberton and his brow-beaten chauffeur, Pat Dugan! PLUS :  Lefty Banx, Armstrong of the Army, and more!!
