Released February 1997
Steve Ditko's Strange Avenging Tales #1
Synopsis
There are two main themes to these short stories, ironic comeuppance and “the world owes me a living” liberalism. The first are illustrated in the sort of horror tales that Ditko drew for Marvel and Charlton, the second in one or two page gag strips. Whatever the subject, Ditko’s lost none of his storytelling skills: here are doomed men whose final understanding of their fate is laid out in full before us. On a lighter note, it’s worth mentioning that in the absence of any comment from Ditko himself, there are comments about him reprinted from The Comics Journal and an advert for that magazine with tag lines like “Aesthetic criticism that may infuriate Ditko.” One day, we may get issue two but in the meantime
