In Superman #261 (1973), titled "Slave of Star Sapphire," Carol Ferris (Star Sapphire) is manipulated by the Zamarons to believe Superman killed Green Lantern, prompting her to attack the Man of Steel. Using her gem, she places Superman under her control, forcing him to act as her servant before Lois Lane intervenes to break the mental hold.
