Tarzan encounters the embattled castle of Abner Perry, the scientist whose original mole machine first brought civilization to the hidden world. But civilization is exactly what Tarzan doesn't want, especially when he sees how it has turned the Pellucidarians into lazy, fat slobs. When Tarzan frees one of Perry's prisoners, he once again leaves civilization, but this time, civilization follows him . . . in the form of an angry army!
