Synopsis

JUST A GUY May Parker calls Gwen Stacy's mom to have her come pick up Gwen, but she refuses, horrifying May. Spider-Man threatens Peter Parker and tells him to leave of he will kill the woman. Peter webs the knife away from Spider-Man and jumps on him, beating him and yelling angrily that people blame his crimes on him. Spider-Man pleads that Peter can take his money, and Peter unmasks him, revealing 'just a guy'. Peter angrily starts to strangle him, but relents and actually spares his life. Jean DeWolff calls all Spider-Men to leave the building, but the hostages run out, freed. Inside the cops find the impostor webbed up, with a note from the real Spider-Man. Peter comes home and sees May Parker needing to talk to him, and they go into Gwen Stacy's room and wake her up. May offers for Gwen to stay with her and Peter, and Gwen tearfully accepts, crying as May hugs her. At school the next day, Mary Jane Watson reacts sadly then angrily at the news, telling Peter that she has nightmares from the Battle Against Norman Osborn, that her father cheats on her mother, that Gwen will distract Peter from her, and that she can't handle the possibility of Peter's death. She says she loves him, but cannot be his girlfriend anymore, and breaks up with Peter.
