When the X-Men arrive in Japan they find that the city Agarashima is ablaze by a great firestorm caused by an unnatural earthquake.The X-Men had been rescued by a Japanese ship after leaving Savage Land. They make their way to Japan, where they found spots of fire and earthquakes. They must aid old acquaintance Sunfire against the villainous Moses Magnum, who is threatening to sink Japan with his powers. Misty Knight and Colleen Wing are also in Japan trying to help. They fight against Mandroids and defeat them.Meanwhile, in space, Professor Xavier and Lilandra are going to the Shiar World, for her claim their throne as empress.In this issue Wolverine meets Mariko Yashida (Sunfire's cousin) for the first time and falls in love. We also find out that Wolverine can speak Japanese.   1st appearance of Mariko Yashida
