Gambit, Sunfire, and Jubilee fight the Hand.Mariko and Wolverine were set to wed, but Mariko was poisoned by Matsuo Tsurayaba, by way of a poisoned knife with which she was to cut off a finger and return it to him (to retore peace between their clans). Knowing that using it would still cause her death, honour bound she did her last act as clan leader.With Mariko’s dying breath, her final request to Logan is to use his claws to kill her and spare her the pain of the blowfish toxin.Mariko - "Spare me the final agonies! Release my soul while it still sings with my love for you! Use your claws my beloved.."Logan - "No! I can't!!!"In the end, all we hear is 'SNIKT', and the book closes with Mariko's limp body in Logan's arms.
