Synopsis

LOSSES Helena Wayne is surprised to wake from her dreams to find that her cabin in the Catskill Mountains is on fire. The smell of an accelerant in the air suggests arson, but no indication that the arsonist stuck around, suggesting that they didn't know she was there. Depressed at having lost another familiar place, she runs for her life.  Later, she meets with Karen Starr in Woodstock, where they encounter a fortune-teller on the street. The woman claims that darkness and pain await, and something very evil is flying towards them. This is not news to them, but they heed the warning all the same. Perhaps, Helena suggests, they should find a way to get outside help. The Justice League is unfortunately out of the question, because they are not ready to go public with their true identities.   Elsewhere, DeSaad has created three new warriors for himself, using some of the last of his power. While they congeal, he instructs his soldiers to smoke out Karen Starr and her companion in order to steal what technology they have that might help him breach the barrier between realities and get back to Apokolips and Darkseid.   Soon, the Starr Industries building in Oxford is under attack by DeSaad's people, and Power Girl is forced to intervene, in the hopes of stopping them from stealing her technology. Meanwhile, Huntress thwarts a hostage situation inside. Power Girl understands that these attacks are a ploy to get them out in the open, but there aren't enough people to do them any significant damage. She spoke too soon, though, because a Boom Tube brings with it a gang of Parademons, who are a much greater threat than human soldiers. Inside, Huntress realizes the same thing that Power Girl did - it's a trap. She comes face to face with a Parademon, lacking the superhuman abilities needed to defeat it. The Parademon grabs her up and takes her through a Boom Tube to DeSaad. Power Girl catches up just in time to throw herself through the closing Boom Tube, and follow her kidnapped partner.
