  • 🏅 #2 on the Hot 5
  • 1st appearance of Mephisto
  • Also on this week's Trending 20 for selling twice as many copies this week than the previous week
  • Back in November 2020, this issue sold for $38,400 graded 9.8
  • The only other recorded 9.8 sale was $5,700 in 2011
  • CGC reports only 7 copies graded 9.8 and like Wolverine’s first full in #181, the brighter the reds, the higher the value
  • When this hit the Hot List (formerly the Hot 10, currently the Hot 5), we anticipated price corrections across the board
  • This week, 11 out of 25 grades achieved new all-time high sales
  • What’s even more impressive the new record breakers eclipsed previous high sales from December 2020 and January 2021
  • HIGHLIGHTS:
  • 7.5 sold for $1,350 [previous high: $800] +69%
  • 6.5 sold for $975 [previous high: $600] +63%
  • 6.0 sold for $720 [previous high: $475] +50%
  • 5.0 sold for $475 [previous high: $300] +59%
  • 4.5 sold for $550 [previous high: $360] +53%
  • The remaining 6 grades have an increased value at an average of 20%
  • This new increased price point is a result of November’s huge sale along with speculation that Mephisto will be pulling the strings in the MCU
  • Some believe a design on a toaster in WandaVision are the numbers 666 engraved in the stainless steel
  • In the Loki trailer, a demonic character resembling Mephisto is depicted in stained glass
  • Regardless, this book has idled in value for longer than other key issues of similar importance
  • Expect high grade Silver Age books that go up for sale to exceed normal gains for the foreseeable future as collectables as alternative investments grow in popularity
