Synopsis

LADY BE DEADLY The female, masked assassin called Lady Vic is looking for Blüdhaven's mob boss Angel Marin who owns her a lot of money. She violently forces some of Marin's thugs to give her the name of his consigliore - the lawyer Maxwell Reed.   Also searching for Marin, Nightwing meets with the dubious Inspector Soames and gets the same lead as Lady Vic. Dick is witnessing a shift of power in Blüdhaven's underworld and perhaps Maxwell Reed is able to answer some questions about it. After getting some sleep, Dick gets up with the intention to make Blüdhaven even more of a new home for him by finding a job. And he quickly finds one as a barkeeper in "Hogan's Alley", a bar which is mostly frequented by cops.  Meanwhile, Soames is cornered by Reynard and two other members of the False Face Society. Reynard had more than one encounter with Nightwing recently and (rightfully) thinks Soames did set him up. But Soames is not intimidated and as he speaks about the true ruler of Blüdhaven, the False Faces get attacked from above. Hours later other cops will find three masked corpses with their necks twisted.   To find Maxwell Reed, a tip from Oracle leads Nightwing to an associate named Biff Tooly who is pretty frightened already because he got an earlier visit by Lady Vic. At least Dick learns from him that Reed might be found on his private yacht named "Quid Pro Quo". Dick does not know that the police is monitoring Tooly and that the officers immediately inform Soames about what's going on.   Later Nightwing sneaks onto the guarded yacht, but Maxwell Reed is able to alarm his guys and a fight starts. It gets more complicated as Lady Vic appears and takes Reed's daughter as hostage.   Somewhere else the missing Angel Marin sits in a small cell. Someone speaks to him via loudspeaker and urges Marin to write down everything about his criminal operations ...
