The Concept: Enterprising young reporter Reggie Baxter has found the story of the century in Joe Campbell, a superhuman immortal with a "Good Samaritan" complex. Problem is, Joe wants to avoid the spotlight at all costs. Undaunted, Reggie comes up with a compromise: Joe will create a super-hero identity, and Reggie will document his activities. Now the attention-starved Reggie and the publicity-shy Joe have to work together to make this business venture succeed. This Issue: When a sea monster attacks the Santa Monica Pier, Reggie sees the perfect opportunity for Venture to grab another headline. But the battle yields revelations about Joe's past... and Reggie's future.
